After a few days of corespondence, I got access to the original grip project.
After forking the code I have now moved it back to where all of the distros go for new releases. Hopefully it will come back into Debian and it's various derivatives, such as Ubuntu.
If any one want to help continue the development, join me, join the project.
If you have patches that should be implemented, join the development team or open a ticket at the SF-project.
I have applied the Mageia and Debian patches, and one from Arch linux.
